Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core has officially signed Chicago forward, Lucas Sturm. Much like Nagy, Sturm spent time with the Vermont Lumberjacks. Sturm has also previously played with current Apple Core forward Colby Walters and alumni Jackson Bernard (Augsburg University) on the Chicago Mission.
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core has signed Michigan native defenseman Connor Nagy. After previously playing for the Vermont Lumberjacks, Nagy has decided to bring his talents to New York and bolster our defense with his big frame and understanding of the game.
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is happy to bring back speedy defenseman Sebastian Kempisty. The defenseman notched 2 goals and 3 assists with the core last season in 24 games played. Kempisty helps round out our defenseman with his smooth skating.
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core have re-signed Minnesota native Nick Weber. Weber is a gritty player with scoring ability the mid-west born forward scored 4 goals and tallied 8 assists last season and we are excited to watch him develop under us for another season.
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core have re-signed forward Zack Conboy of New Fairfield, CT. Conboy is an extremely smart two-way forward who is a great skater. We are excited to bring him back as he will be a key player for us.

Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is excited to announce that we are bringing back Howard Beach's very own, Joe LaChase. The '02 is one of two rookies we are bringing back and looking forward to watching LaChase develop in his second season with the Apple Core.
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is happy to announce that defenseman Eric Mark has committed to Western New England University for Fall 2021.
Mark came to us via Team Maryland about half way through the season and played a total of 25 in our red and white sweaters tallying 3 assists in those games.
Head Coach Mike LaZazzera had this to say about Eric Mark “Eric was a solid and consistent player on and off the ice. A stay at home defenseman who always knew where to be. Eric was very humble and truly cared for the team in his short time with us.
Eric Mark had this to say on his time with the Core and his commitment. “I am excited to say that I will be attending Western New England in the fall. With great academics and athletics, it had all the criterias checked of my ideal school. I would like to thank the New York Applecore organization for the opportunity to play. Especially through a pandemic, this is undoubtedly a year I will remember. From the general manager to the media guy everyone cared, it was a great experience to play at a tight-knit organization. A lot of adversity was faced throughout this year from getting dressed outside to dealing with covid. As a result, I'd like to thank Coach LaZazzera for instilling a “team first” mentality through his meetings and discussions which helped us get through this season. When narrowing down schools he mentioned that Western New England would be a great school to look at. Once I visited, I knew that this is the place where I wanted to be. I would like to thank friends, coaches and especially my parents who supported me throughout the way.”
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core Hockey Club is happy to announce that forward Matt Milone has committed to Manhattanville College for Fall 2021.
Milone has spent the past two seasons with the Apple Core and we were happy to see one of our most humble players return. Milone in two seasons notched 26 points in 64 games played.
“A true coach's player.” as head coach Mike LaZazzera described to Milone. “Milone has one of the best work ethics both on and off the ice. Matt is also a great utility player who was able to play on the power play and short handed an excellent role player. Along with being a great skater Milone also had the hardest shot on the team and one of the hardest shots I've seen at this level.”
Forward Matt Milone had this to say on his college commitment “Playing college hockey has always been a dream for me since I was a little kid. I’ve played at a number of different organizations since I’ve started. Over the past 2 years while being with the New York Apple Core has been nothing but top level when it comes to the ownership, coaching staff, teammates, and the facilities we have. Playing junior hockey has been my best decision of my life and I wouldn’t take it back with all the friends and relationships I’ve made over the years. Now that I have the opportunity to play at Manhattanville college I’ve never been more excited for the next chapter in my hockey career. I want to thank everyone involved starting off with our Head Coach Michael LaZazzera, our Assistant Coach Rob Belger, and our Goalie Coach Matt Grogan for all the hard work they’ve put in to get me to the next level. Finally, I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me along the way and sacrificing a lot.”
Brewster, NY - Rookie John Myers has re-signed for his second year with the Core. It was exciting to watch '02 develop throughout the season tenacious on the puck and constantly creating offensive plays. The White Plains, NY native balanced high school hockey and junior hockey during a global pandemic and there is so much you can say about him personally and his character as a player. We are looking forward to watching him produce more during the 2021-22 season.
Brewster, NY - The Apple Core have inked defenseman Drayton Todoroff to once again patrol the blue line. Todoroff plays a smash-mouth style game and brings a lot of intensity. The Michigan born defenseman is excited to return his dedication and passion for the team was evident throughout the entire season. Todoroff in his 29 games played had 2 goals and 12 assists.
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is proud to announce that we have re-signed forward Colby Walters. The returning forward is very excited to represent the Apple Core for his final season of junior and we are happy to see him return. Walters plays with a lot of heart and leaves it all on the ice. Last season Walters played 33 games scoring 5 goals and 15 assists and look to improve on those numbers this upcoming season.
Brewster, NY -The New York Apple Core is happy to announce that forward Sam Mitchell has committed to Western New England University for Fall 2021.
Mitchell was a new addition to the Apple Core this season the New Fairfield, CT native tallied 37 points in 37 games played for the Apple Core this past season. Mitchell has a big frame and great pair of hands and was able to create a lot of top play caliber drives this season.
“A true diamond in the rough.” as Head Coach Mike LaZazzera describes Mitchell with high praise. “During this season Sam really came into his own. A pure power forward with a great shot and hockey sense. Mitchell will be a massive asset to Western New England and will continue to produce at the NCAA level.”

Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is happy to announce that forward Michael Leva has committed to UMASS - Dartmouth for Fall 2021.
Leva in his return to the Apple Core was on a mission during his final season of junior hockey, to prove people wrong. The native of Hawthorne, NY has played in many leagues with tons of different talent and he was always able to excel at each level. Leva was able to more than double his point production from his first season with the Apple Core and was one point shy of first in the league for points. At the end of his tenure with the Apple Core Leva scored 86 points (31G 51A) in 77 games played, good enough to be ranked 13th in points for our historic franchise.
“In my opinion Leva wss the best all around player in the league.” said Head Coach Mike LaZazzera. “Leva is an all around two-way player who is conscious in his own end of the ice but ready to create a play and drive the offense. A true captain as he was one of three to wear the “A” this season, you knew he had the coaches back when you left the locker room. Huge locker room guy as well as he was well liked by all teammates the past two seasons.”
Leva had this to say on his time playing junior hockey and his commitment. “Junior hockey throughout the past 3 years has taught me so much. It truly was the best experience of my life building friendships that will last a lifetime and memories. Lastly these last two seasons at Apple Core have truly shaped me into the person I am today, a huge thank you to everyone that has pushed me these last two seasons. I would not be going to school without them.”
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is proud to announce that goaltender Jackson Bernard has committed to Augsburg University for Fall 2021.
“I know this is only junior hockey but he's a pro’s pro by the way Jackson conducts himself professionally both on and off the ice.” said Coach Mike LaZazerra “He’s the first guy on the ice and the last guy off. One of the best puck-handling netminders I have ever coached at all levels I have coached. Throughout the season Jackson was like a third defenseman out there.”
Our Assistant Coach & Goaltending Coach Matt Grogan had this to say on “Jackson was always prepared and ready to go. His techniques are sound and as well as an elite puck handler and are never afraid to come out of the crease. Along with those traits, he shows a great work ethic and commitment to his team.”
“My goal has been to play college hockey since I started playing 9 years ago, I’m very excited that I now have that opportunity,” said Jackson. “ When I took my visit to Augsburg I felt like the school was the best fit for me, Head Coach Brown as well as the other coaches were so prepared and excited about having me on the visit. That then made me excited about the possibility of going there. Augsburg provides a big city feel being right in downtown Minneapolis but also gives the small campus feel at the same time. Augsburg is a top contender in the MIAC yearly as well as a Top 10 ranked team in the nation and I’m excited to help continue their success in whatever way I can” said Bernard eagerly as he’s ready to start his NCAA Career. “I can’t thank our Apple Core Head Coach Mike LaZazzera enough for providing me the opportunity this year to play a lot of games and giving me the chance to get seen by schools. I also want to thank Matt Grogan, our Assistant Coach & Goaltending Coach for all of the extra work we did together throughout the entire season as well as all of his hard work away from the rink cutting and editing video for me to study. I also want to thank my family, friends, and billets for all the support over my junior career.”
Brewster, NY - The New York Apple Core is proud to announce that forward Dawson Taylor has committed to Anna Maria College for Fall 2021.
The ‘00 forward from Lowell, MA finished his last year of juniors with the New York Apple Core after spending the beginning of the season with the Maine Eclipse. Overall at the end of his junior career in 82 games, he tallied 24 points.
“Every team needs a player like Dawson on their roster, he brings the most energy and passion both in practice and during our games” said Head Coach Mike LaZazzera. “I believe he is a true definition of a team player and it was a pleasure coaching and getting to know him this season.”
“I am extremely excited to be attending Anna Maria College in the fall. I am truly thankful to the Anna Maria coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing NCAA hockey. During the past two seasons in juniors, Anna Maria was always at the top of my list, and after my visit to campus and meeting with the coaches, it confirmed all of my feelings about that being the perfect place for me both academically and athletically. This opportunity and exciting next step would not be possible without the full support of my entire family and friends over the years. I cannot possibly thank them enough for all they have done for me, not only with hockey but in life. In addition to my family, I would like to thank Coach LaZazzera of New York Apple Core, and Coach Grace of the Maine Eclipse for all that you did for me this season. Brewster, NY - Michael Carducci earns Top Forward Honors for Week 6 in the Eastern Hockey League. Carducci is off to a great start in his second season with the Core. Currently leading the team with 18 points in 9 games (6G 12A) nearing his stats from last season where he had 23 points in 42 games played (12G 11A). The early-season success sets Carducci up for a bright season ahead.
Brewster, NY - Applecore heading in the right direction, after a tough start winning back to back against the Connecticut RoughRiders. A lot of positives can be taken as the Apple Core moves forward into their season. The Core sits at the top of the leaderboard in powerplay percentage at 34.4%, this is something to be very proud of as they have a big lead in this category. Scoring goals has not been an issue for the Core as they sit in 6th place averaging 3.89 goals a game. Applecore is set to hit the ice Tuesday, November 10th for their first of two games that week against the Connecticut Chiefs at Newington Arena.
The New York Apple Core stole a win on Monday against Team Maryland. The Core' is 4-6-0 in their last ten games. Securing wins against the top teams in the league The Philadelphia Revolution, Connecticut RoughRiders, and New Jersey 87s. The Apple Core has made some key roster additions throughout the season, some '99s who have made the Apple Core their home. One of those players, is Ryan Mosher of Queensberry, NY. Mosher has been successful since putting on the Apple Core sweater. We are very proud to give him player of the game honors from his preformance against Team Maryland in an Overtime win. Mosher notched two goals on the power play and added an assist.
Danylo Moroz has been named Warrior Hockey Forward of the Month! Well deserved achievement for our Danylo who has been stellar thru the month of January. Moroz scored six goals and added seven assists good enough for thirteen points bringing his season total to 41 points in 33 games so far.
Apple Core forward Danylo Moroz named Star of the Week by EHL. Moroz notched 7 points in the two game series against the Philadelphia Revolution this past weekend. The '99 Ukraine native settled for 2 points in a 5-2 loss then erupted in Sundays 7-6 shootout win by scoring a hat trick, two assists and adding a shootout goal. We are very proud of the success Moroz has had this season and we look forward to a strong finish.

The New York Apple Core Junior Hockey Club in the Eastern Hockey League has several exciting announcements to make in regards to the upcoming season:
After a successful two year stint as the head coach of the Core, Graham Johnson has accepted a job as the Head Coach of the Men’s Hockey team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In his two years here, our Hockey Club went to the playoffs twice, advancing to the Mid-Atlantic’s second round last season. We’re very proud of Graham and the work he did here, and wish the burgeoning Johnson family happiness and success in the Midwest. Graham follows previous Apple Core Head Coach Bill Silengo to the Division III collegiate coaching ranks: Bill has been the Head Coach of the Men’s Hockey team at Castleton State since 2016.
We’re excited to promote from within: Brian Fahey will be elevated from the Assistant capacity he served in for the past two years to take the reins of our 2018-19 squad. He is the eighth Head Coach of the New York Apple Core Junior Hockey Club, founded in 1992 by Bob and Steve Santini. Brian played college hockey at Worcester State University and has since transitioned to a successful run as a coach at the youth and junior levels; In addition to the role he held with the Core last year, Brian was the head coach of the Westchester Express AAA PeeWee ’06 and Midget Minor ’01 teams. A dedicated and enthusiastic competitor with an eye for talent and a mind for tactics, Coach Fahey will look to build upon last year’s success and establish the Apple Core as a power in the EHL, while maintaining the focus on being the region’s premier program for junior players to progress and meet their individual goals: To date, the Core has sent over 250 alumni on to play College Hockey.
The Apple Core will be retaining Associate Coach Eric Soltys (Also a regional scout for the Calgary Flames) and Goaltender Coach Matt Voity (Also the Goaltender Coach for Division I American International College) as well as adding Marvin Minkler as Assistant; Marvin is the new Hockey Director at the Apple Core’s home rink, the Brewster Ice Arena, after successful tenures at the SoNo Ice House in Norwalk and Stamford Twin Rinks, coaching several youth teams to the National Championship Tournament. A military veteran who played at Worcester State and the University of Scranton, Coach Minkler has worked with some of the area’s top talent (including Jonathan Quick, Cam Atkinson, and Max Pacioretty) and will bring his fierce work ethic and intensity to the program in support of Coach Fahey.

BREWSTER, NY- The New York Apple Core are happy to announce that Joe Verboys has committed to Gustavus Adolphus College for the fall of 2018. The ‘97 forward from Suffern, NY averaged 1.3 points per game this season for Apple Core finishing the year with 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points in 28 games. Joe was an EHL Second Team All Conference Selection.
BREWSTER, NY- The New York Apple Core are happy to announce that Mark Siegel has committed to Anna Maria College for the fall of 2018. The ‘97 goalie from Mahopac, NY finished with a .907 save percentage and a 2.48 goals against average and a team high 11 wins this season for Apple Core. Mark was an integral part of a goaltending trio that helped Apple Core advance to the quarterfinals of the league playoffs.
BREWSTER, NY- The New York Apple Core are happy to announce that Patrick Sullivan has committed to Fitchburg State University for the fall of 2018. The ‘97 forward tallied 9 goals and 22 assists for 31 points in 50 games this season for Apple Core. He also displayed exemplary leadership as an assistant captain helping to guide the team to a 25-20-10 record and trip to the quarterfinals of the playoffs for the second season in a row.
BREWSTER, NY - Apple Core alumni Dominick Sacco is a NCAA DIII Champion with St. Norbert College. The Green Knights defeated the Salve Regina Seahawks in double overtime this Saturday by a score of 3-2. Sacco had the opening goal in this contest and had a total of 28 points in 31 games played. The '95 forward played for Apple Core when the team was playing in the EJHL back in 2012-13 before moving on to the Lincoln Stars of the USHL the following season. While with Apple Core the Sacco tallied 18 points in 16 games (9G, 9A). Sacco was very skilled two way player its great to see the player get awarded.
BREWSTER, NY - Goaltender Kyle Pantalone will be joining the New England College Pilgrims in Fall 2018. The '97 goaltender recorded a win/loss record of 4-0 and a save percentage of .920 and 2.04 GAA.
BREWSTER, NY - Brett Reed commits to Chatham University and is set to be apart of their second season as a program in Fall 2018. The '98 forward was a late addition joining in early November, and was apart of the key core group of players Coach Johnson added to turn the team around. Reed recorded twenty-five points in thirty three games, nine of these coming on the power play. Chatham has been in touch with Reed for quite some time making this a great landing spot for him
BREWSTER, NY - Forward Austin Withycombe is now committed to Johnson & Wales University and will join the Wildcats starting in Fall of 2018. During the 2017-2018 season the '99 forward also spent time at Cheshire Academy and played five regular season games and five post season games. Withycombe was a presence on the ice in all of his games and his short time spent on the team and will excel at the next level with the Wildcats.
We are proud to announce that goaltender Ben Allard-Robitaille has earned TSR Top Performer Round One Honors. This is well deserved by the '99 goaltender as he was a key difference maker in this best of two first round series, and has an unbelievable save in game three in overtime keeping the 'Core in the game.
Brewster, NY - Applecore stop the Wilkes/Barre Scranton Knights (EHL) and move on to the next round of the Eastern Hockey League playoffs and continue their journey to the Frozen Finals in Providence, RI. It was a tough well fought three game series but Apple Core was able to come out Monday afternoon with a game winning overtime goal off the stick of F- Kyle Warren. Warren was able to pick up a loose puck at the blue line after the Knights went on an offensive push. Warren then cut wide and move in past the Knights defense a put it away past goaltender Jared Stahel.
Lieth and the Applecore finished the month of January without a loss in regulation, posting a record of 8-0-2 in their ten games. Lieth played in nine of those games, contributing with four goals and six assists from the blue line. The '98 now has 14 points to his name this season, and his biggest point in January was the game-winning goal he scored against the Valley Jr. Warriors at showcase in West Chester, PA. The Applecore are right in the thick of the tight playoff race in the South Conference, and will be relying on Lieth in the final 12 games as they look to make a move for the Central Division title.
Sofia, Bulgaria- New York Apple Core forward Mark Revniaga is currently representing his home country of Israel in the IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria. Mark is currently leading the tournament in scoring with 6 goals and 3 assists through Israel’s first 3 games, with Israel currently atop the standings. Also playing for Israel is fellow EHL member Tomer Aharonovich of the Philadelphia Revolution. “We wish Mark the best of luck. It’s an honor to represent your country, and we know Mark will represent Israel well. This is a tremendous opportunity for him, we’ve been lucky to have him here as a part of the Apple Core family.”

Apple Core - Elite have won three in a row! Leading in points over the past weekend is Jamie Esperto he has 8 points in four games played. Goaltender Dylan Clare is stopped 45 out of 48 to close off the weekend with a big win in which they were behind in the second period. Dom Dimambro who natively plays for the premier team had the game winning goal in the third period.
Apple Core - Elite look to continue the streak Saturday in the first game of two against the Jr. Flyers who they play again on Sunday.
The New York Apple Core take home two points before the Holiday break with an overtime win over the East Coast Wizards. Goals came off the sticks of Johan Hoglund, Mike Cacciato, and Nestor Plarsmo had the game winner in overtime. Assists were recorded by Travis Quigley, Noah Kostick, Patrick Kissell, Glenn Puppa, and Nestor Plarsmo also had an assist.
Goaltender Doug Connor had a .947 save percentage, saving 36 of 38 shots on net.
The New York Apple Core will be back on home ice Saturday January 7th, 2017 at 4:40pm as they take on the Philadelphia Revolution. They will play the Rev again Sunday the 8th at 12:10pm.
