 Coach Henry Lazar has been with the NY Apple Core organization since 1990. Coaching the Bantam team for the first three seasons at the 'Core, the Bantams won the LI League Championship all three seasons and the NYS Bantam State Championship in 1992 and 1993. In 1994, Coach Lazar began his (12) year Junior stint. As a MET League Jr B team, the 'Core won the League Championship in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. The 'Core won the National Championship in 1996. The team, after going (3) years in the MET losing only (1) Game, joined the Eastern Junior Hockey League in 1998.

    In the Eastern Junior Hockey League, the team made the playoffs in each of the (7) season under Coach Lazar's guidance, culminating in a Triple Crown Championship in 2003. Under Lazar, the Junior program has placed over (120) players at top Colleges and Universities with (4) players reaching the NHL.

    In 2005-6, Lazar moved down to the Youth division to work with younger players. Lazar remained as the GM of the Junior program while working with the players of tomorrow. In Coach Lazar's two years at the Bantam level, the team won numerous tournaments and reached the NYS State Championship semi-finals in 2007.

 

 In 2007-8, Coach Lazar returned for a one year stint with the EJ team, reaching the playoffs and placing (12) players at Colleges/Universities. This coming year (2008-9) Coach Lazar will work with younger Junior B players in the Empire Jr B League. Coach Lazar will continue to GM the entire (3) team Junior division for Team President Bob Santini.

    Coach Lazar has also coached the St. Mary's Varsity team to (12) NYS Championships since 1991, including (9) in a row. Lazar holds the NYS High School Coaches win record with 590 victories over the (17) years at the school.

    Coach Lazar's Bantam, Junior, and High School teams have won over (100) tournaments over the years. Lazar has also coached the LI Empire State team to their first Gold medal and coached the NYC team to their first Empire State Games win ever.
