Junior B Premier Hosts Senators

The Binghamton Senators traveled south for a three game match up with the Applecore Premier team.  Saturday’s game proved to be the best game of the weekend for Applecore.  The team came out strong and fast and scored 2 goals in the first period.  The first goal by defenseman Mark DeBernardo was a nice shot from the point.  Alex Caruso put the puck in the net for the second goal of the period and the Applecore went to the locker room feeling like they could accomplish anything.  The second period was a grudge match that left both teams scoreless.  Mike Cambria scored unassisted in the third and Mark DeBernardo scored his second of the game to put the Applecore on top at the buzzer with a 4-0 win.  The scoring line of  Mike Cambria, Mike Brennan and Alex Caruso were on fire for this game.  Ray Potestio made his debut after healing from a broken leg and looked strong playing on a line with Danny Kaplan and Mike MascaroJoe Bastone, Mike Tsatskin and Ryan Carroll played a tough, physical game all weekend.  Defense was strong as Nick Andersen always likes to throw his body around.  Victor Dzenis was powerful from the point as well as Chris Josephs and Jesse Trap. Mike Iacono, Mike Leprine, and Dylan Larkin played enforcer all weekend.  Sunday and Monday’s games left the Premier team defeated both days.  The Senators came out hitting and never let up.  In Sunday’s game Chris Josephs scored the only Applecore goal and Monday Mike Brennan scored the only goal.

This weekend the Applecore Premier team plays home again against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Saturday’s game is at 4:30pm and Sunday’s game is at 8:30am at The Arena of Long Beach.

Junior B Premier Home Opener

After an exhausting 8 weeks on the road, for the parents anyway, the time has finally come for the Premier team to play at home.  The Applecore Junior B Premier team is off to a slow start with a 4-9-0 league record, but the steam is building and we are now on the steady path to success.  The team may be young, but the talent is far from it.  With leadership from veteran and Captain, Nick Andersen and newly appointed Assistant Captain Mike Cambria, the Premier team is up for the challenge this weekend when they face off against the New Jersey Wildcats.  In the last match up against these two teams, the Applecore fell short in both games against Jersey.  That is not going to be the case in Long Beach this weekend.  The Premier team is ready to play and Coach Larry Nastasi plans to lead his team to victory.
