PLAYER OF THE MONTH 

Kevin Kavanagh

 
  Kevin Kavanagh Has been Selected as the Player of the Month for January 2009, Kevin’s Leadership as one of the captains of the Apple Core Junior Empire Team has lifted his teammates to another level. With his smooth skating and sharp vision on the ice, Kevin is currently one of the top leading scorers among defenseman in the Empire Junior Hockey league with 8 goals and 23 assists. Kevin had the honor to be one of the Apple Core player’s to represent the organization in the All-star game up in New Hampshire. During the month of January Kevin was called up to the Eastern Junior Hockey League and within his 7 game stay was able to tally 1 goal and 2 assist giving him 2 goals and 3 assist for the month of January between both teams he played with.  The playoffs and Nationals are around the corner keep an eye on Kevin Kavanagh he will be a major force in Apple Core’s run for a National Title.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH 

# 4 - CRAIG HALPIN

             With 20 games under his belt rookie defensemen Craig Halpin, averaging almost a point a game from the back line is the Apple Core Junior CHA player of the month. Craig elected an Alternate Captain in his first year of Junior play is a major reason the Young Guns are one of the top four teams in the CHA. Craig averaging 33 minutes a game playing on the penalty kill as well as the power play is one of the players going to the All Star game to represent Apple Core this January. Craig who comes from Upstate Irvington N.Y. has quickly become one of the leaders of the Young Guns with his never quit attitude and great work ethic, he is definitely a player to watch.

Player of the Month
Zachary Lokey #96


With 13 goals, 8 assist for a total 21pts for the Month of October, Zachary Lokey is Applecore Junior B Empire Team Player of the Month.  This Right Handed shooter from Elizabethtown, PA is a winger that can snipe from all areas of the ice. His quick release and playmaking vision is utilized on the left point of Applecore’s  powerplay unit.  Zachery’s  4 powerplay goals in October has help make his team one of the most productive powerplay units in the Empire Junior League.
